Staff Review and Summarv:
The project involves the installation of 56 lineal feet of rip rap shoreline erosion control along
Spring Park Bay, Lake Minnetonka. The site is located within Subwatershed Planning Unit U-10,
LM-38. The applicant is proposing to remove an existing retaining wall. After the retaining wall
is removed brick from the existing shoreline will be placed into the voids created by the retaining
wall. The proposed rip rap will utilize boulders between 12" and 33". The proposed filter layer
will be a minimum of one foot thick. The proposed slope will be no greater than 2 to 1
(horizontal to vertical). The licensed shoreline contractor to do the proposed work is Landview
Landscaping.

The following conditions shall be placed on the permit:
1. An independent professional engineer registered in the State of Minnesota, of your own
selection and at your own expense, shall certify that your completed projects are
constructed in accordance with the approved permit application.
2. All District rules and permit conditions shall be complied with.

Joe Richter, DNR Hydrologist stated that the placement of the brick behind the rip rap would be
OK as long as brick was entirely covered by rip rap.
