Dear Mr. Frommelt:
Thank you for contacting the City of Orono for information about your proposed addition.
Per our conversation, I presented your questions to a City Planner who confirmed that a recent
survey will need to be completed including hardcover calculations before any determinations
can be made.
If hardcover maximums are not exceeded and other requirements (i.e. set-backs) are met for
the LR-1C District only a building permit will be required. If hardcover and/or other requirements
are not met, you would need to apply for a variance.
For your convenience, I have attached information sheets on survey requirements and
hardcover. Also attached is the hardcover calculation worksheets.
Once you have a new survey, including hardcover calculations we would be happy to meet with
you to discuss your options.
