RE: Deck Construction
Dear Mr. Zentgraf,
This letter is in response to your letter of February 11, 2003. We have discussed the survey
requirement for deck construction on your property. The City Council gives staff no option but
to require a survey for construction on a property. The only exception is for detached accessory
structures of less than 1,000 sq. feet when certain conditions are met. These conditions were met
when the storage buildings were placed on your property. You may appear at a City Council
meeting to express your view. Others have done so with the City Council not changing their
policy.
Your failure to obtain a building permit leaves The City no alternative but to initiate legal action.
Action will be withheld until April 24, 2003. If a complete building permit application with
plans, survey and hardcover calculations is not received by that date The City will refer the
matter to the City Attorney. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at my
