Re Stn.ictural Review of Boulder Wall Desi�n
Dear Mr. Rohs:
As requested, I have recently inspected the boulder wall that was recently constructed on
your property located at 2155 Carriage Lane in Orono, Minnesota. The boulder wall
varies in height from 2 ft. to S'-6" tall. Engineering certification is required in your
municipality for any retaining wall exceeding 4 feet in height The overall length of the
wall is approximately 75 ft. and about 25 feet of the total let,�th of the boulder wall
exceeds 4 feet in height. The wall was built with boulders averaging 3 ft. in diameter with
an average front batter (vertical slope) of approximately 15 degrees. Filter fabric was
draped behind the baulders. The boulder wal] in its closest proximity is about �0 ft. from
the northeast corner of the attached garage The boulder wall does not retain any soil
required for the stability of the house or garage foundation.
In my opinion, as a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota, based on
the wall construction as described above, this design meets my standards for boulder
walls and is therefore acceptable. This report constitutes certification of the boulder wall
desi�n and may be submitted to the local building inspector.
