re: Repairs to septic system
Dear Mr. Fullerton:
As you are probably aware, your septic system is discharging
effluent directly into Maxwell Bay on the south side of your
property near the pool. This was not noted previously since it
is quite distant from the house and obscured by thick underbrush.
I'm sure you realize that this discharge must be stopped,
as it certainly constitutes a pollution hazard to the lake.
Roger Wenner, a septic system contractor affiliated with Day
Plumbing of Long Lake, contacted me and we met on the site to
discuss possible locations for replacement of the system.
To assure this situation is resolved effectively, I suggest
you hire a soil scientist or civil engineer to evaluate soil
conditions on the site and design a septic system for you based
on the soil capabilities and water usage of the house. Although
I do not know the exact condition of the existing septic tanks,
I suspect they may have to be replaced along with installation
of a z,ew drainfield to bring the entire system into compliance
with State and City codes.
You may wish to coordinate this work with repairs to the
septic system for the Fullerton caretaker house on Stubbs Bay.
A notice requiring repairs to that system was issued in April of
this year.
I must require that the work be completed within 90 days.
Please call me if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Gaf ron
