MinnMota 56323*Ifttiiid|»Rl OfficM On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka Inspection Report: Septic System Serving 3125 Pox Street I inspected this system on August 2, 1984, and wish to make the following observations: 1. The house is served by one known septic tank of approximately 750 gallons capacity. It is possible but not likely that a second tank exists. Orono has required two-tank system since 1961—this system probably predates that time. 2. Our records indicate repair work done in 1967, which according to Mr. Gibbs was addition of drainfield. I could not verify the actual amount of drainfield existing, but if there are three lines as Mr. Gibbs seems to remember, there might be as much as 500 or 600 square feet. This would likely be less drainfield than is normally installed for a house of this size today. 3. The existing drainfield shows no evidence of current or past discharge, and from this I infer it is adequately handling the current effluent load. Should the effluent load increase appreciably, it is not possible to accurately predict on the sketchy specs available, how this would function. 4. The existing septic tank appeared to need pumpout at this time. I noted a fairly thick layer of solids in probing the tank. I would also suggest that to do a thorough job of cleaning and maintaining this sytem, the tank should actually be uncovered, solids pumped out, and baffles checked and replaced if necessary. I would also recommend that, due to the depth of this tank below the surface and the need for strict and judicious maintenance since there is only one tank, it would be wise to replace the tank cover if necessary and add a 20” manhole to the surface so the solids can be adequately stirred and removed. 5. This property is about seven acres and has ample room to expand the system should it ever be necessary. L P.
