HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 7680 Appointing Absentee Ballot Board and Election JudgesCITY OF ORONO RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL NO. 7680 APPOINT ABSENTEE BALLOT BOARD MEMBERS AND ELECTION JUDGES WHEREAS, state law requires the city to establish an Absentee Ballot Board to accept and reject ballots before each election (Minn. Stat. §203B.121 Subd. 1), and WHEREAS, elections will be held August 11 and November 3, 2026; and WHEREAS, state law requires the city to appoint election judges to serve and assist voters at polling places in each precinct on each election day (Minn. Stat. §204B.21 Subd. 2); and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. §204B.195 and 204B.31, individuals serving as election workers may take paid time off from their regular employment to train and serve, may be compensated by the city unless they choose to volunteer, and that compensation rates are set as follows: Election Judge $18.00 per hour, Absentee Ballot Board Member $19.00 per hour, and Head Election Judge $20.00 per hour. RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes the following individuals to assist with election duties: Denise Aasen, Maggie Baker, Maureen Bellows, Carl Borg, Nancy Brantingham, Hayley Brenna, Susan Bro, Jenny Brockman, Barbara Bmwell, Tom Cady, Laura Clapp, Nancy Danielson, Michaela Diercks, Robin Dodson, Lindsay Freeman, Leonard Freeman, Lawrence Getlin, Joy Grundeen, John Hall, Susan Heurung, Georgetta Hickey, Deborah Houston, John Roberts, Sheila Jones, Kim Kang, Ainsley Kaufman, Sandra Keegan, Mary Killorin Caswell, Evelyn Knapp, William Knapp, Jill Kunze, Kevin Landgraver, Sophia Mahowald, Bonnie Martinson, Maryann Merideth, Kimberly Mueller, Kirk Nelson, Lee Peterson, Jennifer Riemenschneider, Holly Rocca, Richard Rohrer, Julie Ruegemer, Penny Saiki, Theodore Schultze, Katherine Shannon, Dana Sheehan, Cynthia Smith, Jeff Strandberg, Rosetta Sweet Anderson, Katie Thompson, Jennifer Weiss, Sandy Whisler, SheITy White, Bryan Whitehead, and Cathy Wilkins. FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council establishes an Absentee Ballot Board with the following individuals: Maggie Baker, Maureen Bellows, Carl Borg, Jenny Brockman, Nola Dickhausen, Lawrence Getlin, Joy Grundeen, John Hall, Deborah Houston, Sheila Jones, Sandra Keegan, Mary Killorin Caswell, Jill Kunze, Kevin Landgraver, Bonnie Martinson, Jason Mejia, Kimberly Mueller, Kirk Nelson, Lee Peterson, Jennifer Riemenschneider, Holly Rocca, Richard Rohrer, Penny Saiki, Theodore Schultze, Katherine Shannon, Dana Sheehan, Rosetta Sweet Anderson, Jennifer Weiss, SheITy White, and Cathy Wilkins. FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes the City Clerk to designate qualified individuals to serve as Absentee Ballot Board members and election judges and to make staffing assignments and adjustments as needed for the 2026 elections.
