No. 930 2 Dear Jim: I visited the sitc of the above referenced project on March 26, 1993 to review the large wooden decorative beams which are to be supported by the wood roof trusses. We recommend the following in order to adequately support the beams: Main beam (runs perpendicular to roof trussesN connection: Use 2-3/4" a A307 lag boits on each aids of main beam. Bolts to pass through blocking between roof trusses and side beams and penetrate a mirimum of 4 inches into main beam. Drill pilot hole in main beams and advance lag bolt by screwing - do not hammer into place. Side beam (runs parallel with roof trusses) connection: Use 3/4" o A307 lag bolts at 4'-0" o.c. Penetrate minimum 4 inches into beam. Bolt through solid double 2x blocking. Blocking should be connected to trusses with 4 - 10d nails each and. If you have any questions, please call.
