This boring was done at the base of the hill <br />as shown on the attached sketch. The soil consists of an 18" <br />layer of sand overlying red sandy clay, and appears to be dry <br />enough to put in enough standard drainfield to last until the <br />sewer comes through. The City is committed to sewering the <br />Minnetonka Bluffs area within three years of completion of the <br />interceptor now under construction. My best guess is that <br />sewer won't be available for hookup until at least next spring <br />and pr,'oably not that soon. <br />You should have at least 300 square feet of standard drainfield <br />installed in the area northeast of the house as shown. It is <br />unlikely that you have room on the lot for anymore than 300 sq. ft. <br />This amount of drainfield is about 1/3 of what we would require for <br />a new house, but should last until sewer comes. The existing tanks <br />may be repairable so they will also last a few more years. I <br />believe you will agree that with sewer imminent this is a beti-er <br />solution than a high cost mound system which would probably be <br />required if no sewer was planned. <br />I am enclosing a list of septic system contractors in the area. <br />The needed repairs should cost less than $1,000 if the tanks are <br />repairable and more if they are not.
