Minutes <br /> City Council Special Meeting <br /> Monday, March 30, 2026, 5:00 PM <br /> e C City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br /> Mayor Tunheim called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Orono City Council members present: Mayor Bob Tunheim, City Council Members Alisa Benson, Steve <br /> Persian, and Jon Schwingler. Members absent: Jacqueline Ricks. <br /> Staff present were City Administrator/Engineer Adam Edwards and Finance Director Maggie Jin. <br /> PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 1. Claims/Bills <br /> 2. Hire Seasonal Employees <br /> 3. 2026 Sewer Rehabilitation Award(26-012) <br /> 4. Grant—Sanitary Sewer Improvements—Resolution 7673 <br /> Schwingler moved,Persian seconded,to approve the Agenda and Consent Agenda as submitted. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 0. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Jay Nygard, 1386 Rest Point Road, provided comments. <br /> CITY ADMINISTRATOR/ENGINEER REPORT <br /> 5. Resignation and Recruitment—Public Works Superintendent <br /> City Administrator Edwards announced the resignation of DJ Goman and recommended a revised job <br /> description, changing the position from Superintendent to Director,which also affects the required <br /> qualifications and pay scale. <br /> The Council discussed the item and asked questions of staff. <br /> Persian moved,Benson seconded,to accept the resignation of the Public Works Superintendent, <br /> effective March 26,to approve the job description and recruitment process for a Public Works <br /> Director,and to appoint Brent Weldon as Interim Public Works Superintendent,effective March <br /> 26.VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 0. <br /> 6. Service Recognition—Resolution 7674 <br /> City Administrator Edwards indicated the City normally adopts a Council resolution of appreciation for <br /> employees who have served five years or more. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
