A RESOLUTION REFLECTING COUNCIL CONSENSUS
REGARDING AMENDING THE PARKS ELEMENT
OF THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
� TO REFLECT THE NEED TO ACQUIRE ADDITIONAL PARK LAND
IN BOTH THE URBAN AND RURAL AREAS OF THE CITY
WHEREAS,the Park Commission has,through substantial efforts, identified a set
of needs related to parks, open space, and trails in the City; and �
� WHEREAS,meeting these needs will require the acquisition of additional land for
parks, open space, and trails in both the urban and rural areas of the City; and
VV�IEREAS,the Council has indicated support for additional park land acquisition
to meet the needs identified by the Park Commission; and
� .
WHEREAS,the current parks element of the City's Comprehensive Plan does not
include the acquisition of additional park land in the City's rural area.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Orono City Council,that it is
the consensus of the Council that the parks element of the City's Comprehensive Plan should be
amended to reflect the need to acquire additional park land in both the urban and rural areas of the
City to meet identified parks, open space, and trail needs.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting
held this 23rd day of February, 1998.
