RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING FUNDING FROM
THE BOARD OF GOVERNMENT INNOVATION AND COOPERATION
TO ASSIST WITH COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE
LONG LAKE/ORONO CONSOLIDATION STUDY
WHEREAS,the Cities of Long Lake and Orono created a Consolidation Study Committee
to study and report back to the City Councils on the issue of the consolidation of the cities of Long
Lake and Orono; and �
' WHEREAS, the Consolidation Committee began discussions on consolidation in April,
1999 and hired a consulting firm to assist with the consolidation study; and
� WHEREAS, the Cities of Long and Orono are making application for funding from the
Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation for a matching grant of up to $10,000 to assist
• with a portion of the costs associated with the consolidation study, as outlined in Minnesota Statutes
465.88, Planning aid for consolidation studies; and
WHEREAS,the City of Orono agrees that the Board grant will be matched dollar for dollar
by funding from the Cities of Orono and Long Lake.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono does hereby request aid
from the Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation to assist with the costs associated with
the study of consolidating the Cities of Long Lake and Orono.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono,Minnesota at a regular meeting held this
22nd day of November, 1999.
