Minutes <br /> City Council Work Session <br /> Monday, January 12, 2026, 8:00 AM <br /> Ws City Council Chambers 12780 Kelley Parkway, Orono,MN 55356 <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Council members present: Mayor Bob Tunheim,Alisa Benson, Steve Persian, Jacqueline Ricks, Jon <br /> Schwingler. <br /> Staff present: City Administrator Adam Edwards, City Clerk Christine Lusian, Police Chief Correy <br /> Farniok, Finance Director Maggie Jin, Community Development Director Laura Oakden, Public <br /> Works Superintendent DJ Goman, Parks &Facilities Superintendent Joe Ruthenberg, <br /> Communications Specialist Rachel Cotter. <br /> GOALS & PRIORITIES 2026 <br /> City Council members and department heads reviewed the City's mission,vision, and 2025 goals <br /> and accomplishments to begin setting priorities for 2026. Council members shared proposed goals, <br /> grouped similar ideas, and discussed scope and capacity to determine what could realistically be <br /> achieved in 2026. The group then ranked priorities to focus on a small number of key goals for staff <br /> action. <br /> The priorities identified were: <br /> 1. establish a community event, <br /> 2. improve resident request tracking, <br /> 3. create park maintenance standards, <br /> 4. maintain financial stewardship, <br /> 5. maximize facility use, and <br /> 6. develop a community engagement strategic plan. <br /> Next steps include staff developing action plans and the Council formally adopting the goals at its <br /> January 26 meeting. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> Work session ended at 12:30 p.m. <br /> ATTEST: CITY COUNCIL <br /> • <br /> -1-Z‘-k..----- <br /> Christine Lusian, Ci lerk Bob Tunheim,Mayor <br />
