A RESOLUTION TO VERIFY THAT THE
LAKE NIINNETONKA WOODS TOWNHOME DEVELOPMENT
IS CONSISTENT WITH THE HOUSING ELEMENT
OF THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
WHEREAS, the housing element of the City's Comprehensive Plan includes a set of
housing improvement goals; and
WHEREAS,one of the housing improvement goals is to provide opportunities for a inix of
housing types,locations,and cost ranges,which will meet the needs and provide adequate housing
for all age and family groups; and
WHEREAS, the housing element of the City's Comprehensive Plan includes a housing
improvement plan,which is a set of implementation policies designed to achieve the housing goals;
� and
• WHEREAS,one of the housing improvement policies is to encourage developers to provide
a variety of housing types and cost ranges; and
. WHEREAS,the Minnetonka Woods townhouse development includes 29 moderately priced
townhouse units; and
WHEREAS, a relatively small grant would enable a number of these units to meet the
Metropolitan Council's housing affordability guidelines.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Orono City Council does hereby
verify that the Lake Minnetonka Woods townhouse development is consistent with the housing �
element of the City's Comprehensive Plan; and does also hereby authorize the City Administrator
to submit grant applications appropriate to enabling four of the units in the townhouse development
to meet the Metropolitan Council's housing affordability guidelines.
Adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on January 24, 2000.
