A RESOLUTION REQUESTING EXTENSION OF THE DUE DATE �'
TO AUGUST 31,2000 FOR REVIEW OF THE
CITY OF ORONO COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR CONSISTENCY WITH
AMENDED METROPOLITAN COUNC�.POLICY PLANS ,
WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. §473.175-473.871 (1996)requires that cities review and revise ,
their comprehensive plans for consistency with Metropolitan Council policy plans;and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has amended its policy plans; and has provided
system statements outlining Council policy relative to the City; and
. WHEREAS, the City of Orono was require`d to review its comprehensive plan for
consistency with the amended policy plans and'to prepare a revised comprehensive plan for submission to
the Metropolitan Council by December 31, 1998; and
WHEREAS,the City Council has requested and received eYtensions of the December 1998
due date from the Metropolitan Council to allowthe Citv to complete its comprehensive plan;circulate the
� revised document to the adjacent governmental units and affected school districts for review and comment;
`'� . and, following approval by the Planning Commission and after consideration by the City Council, submit
the Plan to the Metropolitan Council for review; and
WHEREAS,the most recent due date extension expires June 30,2000; and
WHEREAS,the City of Orono has proceeded diligently to complete its comprehensive plan
for Metropolitan Council review; and
WHEREAS,the City of Orono had anticipated at least a partial submittal of the plan by the
June 30, 2000 due date; however, an additional 60 days will be needed by the City in order to complete
preparation of the plan for submittal. �
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono requests that the
Metropolitan Council grant the City of Orono an extension to August 31,2000 to complete its comprehensive
plan; circulate the revised document to the adjacent governmental units and affected school districts for
review and comment; and,following approval by the Planning Commission and after consideration.by the
City Council, submit the plan to the Metropolitan Councit for review.
