CITY of ORONO -- ,� �., �,� G'ti RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL �`�k'ESK�4�' � � No. � � � � A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ' MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM PARK DEDICATION AMOUNTS FOR COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL ZONED LAND WHEREAS, the City's general park dedication requirement is 8%of the land being platted or subdivided; and � � WHEREAS,the City's park dedication ordinance calls for the dedication requirement to be roughly proportional to the projected impact of the proposed development on the City's park system; and WHEREAS,the City's park dedication ordinance provides for the establishment of � minimum and maximum park dedication amounts per residential dwelling unit; and WHEREAS,the City finds the employees of commerciaUindustrial developments make use of the City's park system in ways similar to City residents,particularly since the City's park system is focused on trails and natural areas; and WHEREAS,the City's park dedication ordinance ties the commercial/industrial park dedication requirement to the residential park dedication requirement by determining the number of commercial/industrial employees that is equivalent to a residential dwelling unit in terms of impact on the City's park system; and WHEREAS, the City has established a minimum park dedication amount per residential dwelling unit as $3,100 per unit, and a maximum park dedication amount per dwelling . � unit as $5,300 per unit; and ' � WHEREAS, the City finds that ten employees are equivalent to one residential dwelling unit in terms of impact on the park system; and WHEREAS,the City finds that the average number of employees accommodated by commerciaUindustrial zoned land is 25 employees per acre; and _ • � Page 1 of 2 , .. -� �--- /� �11�' � � 0 ��4. - CITY of ORONO �. ,� F �� G'� RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ��`q.kESH.p4�� . NO. � F10 .� � � . � WHEREAS,the City finds that one acre of commerciaUindustrial land has an impact on the park system equivalent to that of 2.5 residential dwelling units; and � WHEREAS,the equivalent min'i.mum and maximum park dedication amounts for commerciaUindustrial property would be 2.5 x$3,100=$7,750 per acre and 2.5 x$5,300=$13,250 per acre respectively. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orono City Council does hereby establish the minimum park dedication amount for commerciaUindustrial zoned land as $7,750 per acre, and the maximum park dedication amount as$13,250 per acre.
