, CHIEF GARY CHESWICK
�, �ti FOR HIS THIRTY-TWO YEARS
OF DEDICATED SERVICE
��'�kESxo�'�G TO THE CITY AS A MEMBER OF THE -
- ORONO POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Gary Cheswick began his employment with the City as a full-
time Police Officer on February 1, 1969; and
WHEREAS, his exemplary dedication to quality police work earned him
promotions to the positions of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and interim Chief; and � �
WHEREAS, his ability to strengthen morale and focus the Department on
meeting the police service needs of the community and the contract cities during his
tenure as interim Chief, earned him the permanent promotion to the position of
Police Chief; and
� WHEREAS, under Chief Cheswick's leadership the Department has �
provided high quality police services to the Cities of Orono,Long Lake,Minnetonka
Beach and Spring Pazk; and
WHEREAS, Gary Cheswick is retiring from his position as Police Chief
effective January 31, 2001. �
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the Orono City Council
does hereby recognize and commend Gary Cheswick for his thirty-two years of
service to the community on the Orono Police Department,and for his distinguished
leadership as Police Chief.
� � � � , BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Orono City Council does hereby
congratulate Chief Cheswick on his retirement,and extends its best wishes for a long,
happy and healthy retirement. .
Adopted by the City Council of Orono,Minnesota at a regular meeting held
this 22nd day of January, 2001. .
