THE ROBERT L. SEARLES MERITORIOUS SERVICE
- AWARD CONFERRED UPON
i '� MAYOR WILLIAM B. "BRAD" VAN NEST

WHEREAS,� the Village of Orono has individuals who contribute
outstandinq service to the community to help achieve basic goals that
enhance and perpetuate the "quality of li.fe" for the residents of
Orono; and (
WHEREAS, the Village of Orono did establish the Robert L.
Searles Meritorious Service Award , by Resolution #�735 on December 13,
1976, as a method of rewarding citizens contribution of an outstanding
nature; and
WHEREAS, William B. Van Nest has identified, clarified and
drafted into meaningful legislation the basic goals of the Villaqe of
� Orono that enhance and perpetuate the "quality of life" within Orono;
and ,
WHEREAS, William B. Van Nest has given outstanding service to
the Village of Orono during the past 11 years having served as Planning
Commission Chairman, Planning Commission Member, and Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Orono desires to recognize the
significant contribution William B. Van Nest has made to the overall
welfare of Orono.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Robert L. Searles
Meritorious Service Award be conferred upon Mayor William B. "Brad"
Van Nest.
Adopted by the Village Council of the Village of Orono , Minnesota at its
regular meeting held December 13, 1982.
