� A RESOLUTION
REGARDING THE STATUS OF
THE ORONO SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of Orono submitted its 2000-2020 Community Management
Plan(CMP)to the Metropolitan Council for review in October, 2000; and
WHEREAS,the Metropolitan Council has indicated that completion of its review of
the CMP cannot be completed without submittal of the completed Orono Surface Water Management
Plan (SWMP), or in lieu of such submittal, a resolution of the City Council declaring that the City
has contracted with a consultant to complete the SWMP, and an expected date of completion; and
WHEREAS, the City of Orono has contracted with Bonestroo and Associates to
complete the SWMP, and Bonestroo and Associates has completed a final draft of the SWMP and
• has informally submitted that draft to Metropolitan Council for comment; and
WHEREAS, the City staff and City Council have additional work and review to
complete for the SWMP regarding establishment of jurisdictional responsibilities for the various areas
of surface water management, and the drafting of specific ordinances for implementation of the
SWMP, as required in order to obtain approval of the SWMP by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed
District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Orono,
Minnesota does hereby declare that the anticipated date of completion of the Orono Surface Water
Management Plan is December 31, 2001.
Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota this 13th day of August, 2001.
