CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />No. 7632 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT <br />TO ESTABLISH SHORELINE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND APPROVING <br />LEASES FOR 340 WILLOW DRIVE AND 3770 SHORELINE DRIVE <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has entered an Agreement and Contract for Fire Protection, <br />dated October 15, 2002 with the City of Long Lake and City of Medina, as amended by an <br />Addendum to Contract for Fire Protection between Orono and Long Lake, dated December 12, <br />2011 and as amended by First Amendment to Agreement and Contract for Fire Protection among <br />the Members, dated April 14, 2025 ("collectively, the "Existing Fire Services Agreement"); and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a party to certain litigation related to the Existing Fire <br />Services Agreement, in a case entitled City Long Lake v. City of Orono, Hennepin County District <br />Court File No. 27-CV-23-9758 (the "Lawsuit"); and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono and City of Long Lake are parties to a Contract for Joint <br />Ownership, dated August 8, 2001, relating to the joint ownership, operation and maintenance of <br />the real property located at 340 Willow Drive North in Orono, which is improved with a fire station <br />known as "Fire Station No. I"; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is the fee owner of certain real property located at 3770 <br />Shoreline Drive North in Orono, which is improved with afire station known as "Fire Station No. <br />2"; and <br />WHEREAS, the term of the Existing Fire Services Agreement is scheduled to expire on <br />December 31, 2025; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Long Lake and 04 of Orono have negotiated an agreement <br />entitled Shoreline Fire Department Joint Powers Agreement (the "Joint Powers Agreement"), <br />which establishes a joint powers entity, to be known as the Shoreline Fire Department (the <br />"Department"), which will provide fire protection services to each of the cities according to the <br />terms of the Joint Powers Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono and City of Long Lake propose to lease the property at 340 <br />Willow Drive North to the Department, as contemplated by the Joint Powers Agreement and <br />according to the terms of a negotiated lease agreement (the "340 Willow Lease"); and <br />237618v2 <br />
