, RESOLUTION #779
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ADOPTING
PHASE #1 OF THE ORONO COMPREHENSIVE SEWER PLAN
WITH THE CITY OF ORONO •
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission and the Council of the
City of Orono have reviewed the preliminary draft of the Orono
Comprehensive Sewer Plan and found it to be compatible with the
overall comprehensive land. use plan, and other land use plans of
the City. � .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono
hereby approves and adopts the attached Comprehensive Sewer Plan,
Phase #l, as the comprehensive sewer plan of the Cit�y of Orono.
The adoption of this plan promotes and is based upon the following
objectives:
l. Compliance with the land use policies of the Metro-
politan Council.
• 2. Compliance with the comprehensive sewer policies of
the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission.
3. Providing of municipal servi.ces which are consistent
with high environmental standards for the protection and pre-
servation of Lake Minnetonka and the surrounding watersheds for
the future generations.
4. Containment of urban development within planned
urb�an areas where basic services such as sewers, water facilities
and police and fire protection can be provided efficiently and
economically.
� 5. Conservation of resources by encouraging orderly
development of land.
, 6. Preservation of farm land and open space.
7. More economical use of local tax dollars and County
and State tax dollars in locating facilities and providing services
for the benefit of all citizens within the urban growth area.
8. Providing property owners greater security and long
range planning and investments.
. 9. Making it possible for utility extensions, transpor-
tation facilities and schools to be designed and located so as to
match population growth more closely.

10. Preservation and enhancement of the livability of
the City of Orono.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota at a
regular meeting held P�tay 9, 1977.
