RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING PETITION REQUESTING _
DETACHMENT OF SHADYWOOD POINT FROM THE. VILLAGE
OF ORON09 AND'FORWARDING SAME TO THE MINNESOTA
MUNICIPAL COMMISSION
,WHEREAS9 a petition signed by more than 50% of the property
owners of Shadywood Point has been presented to the Village
Council; and
2 WHEREAS, a public hearing,.after due notice, has been held
on said petition on November 11.91963:
NOW9 THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED as follows: The
Village Council of Orono acknowledges receipt of the petition
of•the said majority of property owners on Shadywood Point and
resolves that said petition shall be forwarded by the Village
,N Attorney to the Minnesota Municipal Commission, so that the
said Commission may take action in accordgnce with Section
414.06 (3) of Minnesota Statutes.
Adopted by the Village Council at.a regular meeting held
November. 11,1963.

s_ RESOLUTION REGARDING DETACHMENT OF SHADYWOOD POINT
WHEREAS, a petition signed by more than 50% of the property
owners of Shadywood.Point has been presented to the Village
Council requesting that said Shadywood Point be detached from.
the -Village of_Orono and annexed to the Village of Mound; and

WHEREAS, a public hearing,after due notice, was held on
said question on November 11,1963; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the Village of Mound is willing
that said Shadywood Point ,be annexed to it; and
WHEREAS,•it,appears that the proposed detachment and an-
nexation is in the public interest;.
N.OW,THEREFORE` IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
'1., Upon adoption by the Village of Mound of a resolution,
concurrent with this resolution, annexing the said
Shadywood Point to the Village of Mound, the said
Shadywood Point, legal description as follows:
sr All that part of the plat -of Shadywood Point
lying within Section 18,Township 117,Range 23,
Hennepin County,, including all public streets,
alleys,parks and other public areas

shall and hereby is detached from the Village of Orono.
2. A certified copy of this resolution -shall be forward-
ed to the Minnesota Municipal Commission. ?i
3. The Minnesota Municipal Commission is hereby requestedg.
upon receipt of a certified copy of this resolution and a
certified copy of a concurrent resolution from the Village >
of Mound annexing the said Shadywood Point, to enter Its.
order detaching the said Shadywood Point (legal description
set forth above) from the Village of Orono and axxexing the,
same to the Village of Mound. r_v

RESOLUTION # 34
A RESOLUTION APPROVING OF NAMING`OF AN ISLAND
(MAHPIYATA) ADJACENT TO BIG ISLAND
WHEREAS the Hennepin County Board of -Commissioners isi
holding a public hearing on a petition requesting that an
un named island adjacent to Big Island in the Village of
y 'Orono be named Mahpiyata Island,
NOW THEREFOREgBE IT RESOLVED that this Council recom-
mend to the County Board that the petition be honored and
.:-the island be so named; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk forward a copy of!..
this resolution to the Board of Commissioners prior to the
'hearing date.
Adopted'by the Village Council at a regular meeting
held December 99 1963
