RESOLUTICN NO. 704
RESOLUTION DENYING KAREN EWING'S APPLICATION
FOR THE OPERATION OF A KENNEL CN PROPERTY
LOCATED AT 3409 EASTLAKE STREET OR 225 TONKA
AVENUE. IN THE CITY OF ORONO
WHEREAS, Karen Ewing has applied for a kennel license pursuant to
Ordinance No. 63.180 to operate a kennel at 225 To ka Avenue, which property
she does not own at the present time, and
MIEREAS, considerable opposition has been expressed by the property
owners in the area to the establishment of such a kennel in a residential use
district, and
WHEREAS, the City Council members have, on an individual basis, reviewed
the proposal and reviewed the proposed site for the kennel license,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Orono makes the following
findings of fact:
1. That the proposed area is in a densely developed
residential district.
`- 2. That the intended use of the kennel would involve four
large dogs.
3. That the site itself is not adequate for the keeping
of four dogs.
4. That the allowing of such a kennel as proposed in such
a densely developed residential district would be adverse to the
health, safety and welfare of the citizens in the area.
5. That complaints have been filed by the surroLnding
property owners to the proposal and there have been problems with
the keeping of dogs by the applicant at her present hone, which is
located at 3409 Eastlake Street.
6. That *hose problems include the constant barking and
howling by the dogs at night and during the daytime when the dogs
were unattended by the applicant.
7. Therefore, the application for the kennel license is
denied.
M
