A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A CONTINUING PARTNERSHIP AMONG THE
AREA CITIES AND WITH THE ORONO SCHOOL DISTRICT REGARDING
EFFORTS TO ADDRESS CHEMICAL ABUSE
WHEREAS, there is strong evidence that drug use significantly affects our school age
youth; and
WHEREAS, there is strong evidence that drug use significantly affects our communities;
and . �
� WHEREAS,the remarkable accomplishments of the initial drug enforcement effort by
the Medina, Orono and West Hennepin Police Deparhnents demonstrates both the extent of the
drug problem in this area and the effectiveness of drug enforcement efforts in addressing the
problem; and
• WHEREAS,there is a strong consensus regarding the importance of continuing efforts
to address the chemical abuse problem.
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Orono Minnesota
that the City strongly supports a partnership between the area cities and the Orono School
District to promote drug prevention.
Adopted by the Orono City Council on this 11`"day of August 2003.
