. RESOLUTION N0. 1356 ,
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
ADMINISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
, WITH THE WESTONKA COUNSELING FOR OLDER
ADULTS FOR SERVICES �
WHEREAS, the elderly as a group experience a larger amount of emotional
trauma due to losses such as death of spouse, reduction of
income, social isolation, failing health, etc. and
WHEREAS, Orono has elderly citizens that are vulnerable to difficulty
in coping with problems such as depression, anxiety, coping
with a physical disability, feelings of grief, loss and anger,
and
WHEREAS, Suburban Community Services is organized under the laws of
Minnesota as a Nonprofit Organization to insure the continuity
of such services, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to provide Suburban Community Services
with adequate supplemental funds for its proper operation of
its Westonka Counseling for Older Adults Program, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Orono has approved the inclusion of the
Westonka Counseling for Older Adults Program in its 1982
• budget, and
WHEREAS, the City of Orono shall provide for the health, safety and
welfare of its older citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORONO,
ORONO, MINNESOTA:
That the Mayor and City Administrator be authorized to enter
an agreement whereby, that Orono, as a political subdivision,
be included in the provision of Counseling Services for
Senior Citizens provided by Suburban Conuaunity Services, that
it participate in the benefits thereof, that it agrees to
support a share of the cost of the provision of such counseling
serv�ices, and that this sharing of cost in 1982 be for the
period of January 1, 1982 through December 31, 1982 and be for
a total amount of $3,060.
A motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
