TAX FORFEIT LANDS RETAINED FOR
PUBLIC USE BY THE CITY OF ORONO
�dHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation
organized and existing under the laws of the State of P�Iinnesota; and
�•�HEREAS, pursuant to rlinnesota Statute 2�2 , the City has
received from Hennepin County a list of. lands within the City which
have become the pPOperty of the State of Minnesota for non-nayment of
real estate taxes; and
Tr1HEREAS , the Hennenin County Board of Commissior_ers have
classified said lands as non-conservation land and have authorized
the sale of each such parcel of land subject to review and release
by the City; and _
WHEREAS , the City Council has reviewed said lands for
compliance with local zoning ordinances , for the amount of outstanding
� special assessments remaining unpaid to the City, and/or for possible
public use by the City as authorized by the statutes ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cit�� Council of
the City of Orono, pursuant to Minnesota Statute Section 282 . Q1,
Subdivision l, hereby applies to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners
and to the Com�-nissioner of Revenue for conveyance Of the following tax
forfeited lands to the City for roadway, park and recreation purnoses.
The City Council hereby states that such lands are substandard or otherwise
unsuitable fcr private use and that there is a need and justifiable public
purpose for said lands to be conveyed to the City because open, travelled
public roads exist across both parcels. In addition, parcel 0008 is
surrounded by public park property.
