Percolation Rate, Type of System. Average rate « 11.4 minutes per inch, Shallow Trench System. 2. Proposed Flow Rate. 4 bedrooms § 150 G.P.D. = 600 G.P.D. 3. Soil Treatment Area Required. Use 2.00 factor x 600 G.P.D. = 1800 Sq. Ft. minimum since with the. 1 shallow trenches extra rock can not be used under the pipe. 4. Size and Number of Trenches.■ ; 4 trenches 3 feet wide and 100 feet long « 1200 Sq. Ft. These trenches would be spaced a minimum of 7.5 feet apftrt center to center and no deeper than 0.8 feet in the natural soil near S.B. # 1 and 1.0 feet near S.B. # 2 In order to maintain 3 feet of seperatlon from the water table. 5. Drainfield tock Needed. 44.4 cubic yds. of rock is needed to have 6 inches under and 2 inches over a 4 inch distribution pipe. 6. Septic Tanks. Two septic tanks each of 1000 gallons are recommended. In addition, it appears that a third pumping tank and pump will not be needed depending on the final house elevation. 7. Additional Information. An old access path to the farm buildings runs through this area and that portion should be scarified ot^disked .to loosen the soil in the top layers prior to drainfield construction.
