On August 7-9s 19t••1 six percolation holes were tested and three
soil borings taken on the above property. The percolation holes were
dug 6 inches in diat:ot r and 2.5 feet deep to test for a shallow
trench system. The soil borings were dug 6 inches in diameter to the
it foot depth and 3 inches in diameter to the rensining cepth. The holes
Mere dug with both hand and power augers.
The primary site was located in the woods where some fairly per-
neable soil existed near the top and yielded a percolation rate fast
enough for a shallow trench system. The alternate site also could sup-
port a shallow trench system but the trenches should be no deeper than
6 inches because of the possibility of a high seasonal water table.
The primary site runs through some nice trees and it appears that the
larce ba:•swood will have to be removed but that the trenches can be
shifted enough to :piss the nice oaks in this area.
If the first floor elevation of tho house is about 14. feet above
the Ground on the small knob near the elm tree it should be possible
to use gravity distribution to the drainfield area. The trenches
shoal,.; be about ', irc: _:o:: doop near the house and about 18 inches deep
to the west since the ground is slightly higher there. Additional
system design information follo,rs. If any other quG3tions arise,
please contact re.
Sincerely,
PLRCOR,o Im.
