RESOLUTZON REGARDING THE POSSIBILITY OF
THE USE OF THE -LUCE LINE TRATL WITHIN THE
CITY OF ORONO FOR TRANSMTSSION LINE �
WHEREAS, the City of Orono has recently been informed
that Northern States Power has previously acquired an easement
for the placement of a transmission line and/or towers over
the Luce Line through the City of Orono, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono is con-
cerned about any possibility of the construction of such a
transmission line on the Luce Line Trail because of its possible
adverse effects on the environment, the Comprehensive Land Use
Plan of the city, the development of the residential areas along
each side of the Luce ,Line Trail,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
l. That the City Council objects to the construction of
such a transmission line along the Luce Line Trail.
• 2 . That the City Council requests that Northern States
Power discuss with the City of Orono any potential plans for the
construction of such a transmission line prior to those plans
being developed by Northern States Power.
This resolution was passed on the 15 day of September
1980, by a vote of 5 ayes and p nays. �
