lJHERErS, the City Council of the City o� Orono is the
of�icial governing body oL the City of Orono; and
t�1FIEREAS , I�. S.A. Section �3 5 . 193 throuqh Section �13 S. 195
autllorizes ttie City of Orono, upon proper application, to defer
tfie payt�ent of special assessr.lents against any hor.iestead uroperty
o���ned by a person 65 years of age or older on ,7anuary 1 of the
payment year and for whom it would be a hardship to make the pay-
ments; and
G�7fiEP.�AS, Section 435. 194 authorizes the r.lunicipality to
establish an interest rate to be added to the deferred assessment
• whicll shall be payable in addition to the deferred assessr.tent;

?9I3E'_2EAS, the City Council Yias determined that the de-
ferral of assessments should be qranted to any person otherwise
qualified �•�ho makes proper application to the City of Orono on
forms �rescribed by the Count_y Assessor of Hennepin County and
by the Orono City Council and for who;n the City Council deterr.lines
that it would be a hardship to make the payments, based u�on the _

against any hor,iestead propert,� o�vned b�� a ;�erson 65 1�ears of age �
or older and For whorl it would be a hardship to r.make the �ayr�ents,
be deferred for a L�eriod of time not to exceed rive years , subject
to the aforementioned Linancial criteria, upon sul�mission of an
appropriate api�lication signed by the qualified l�erson; and
BE IT I'URTHER i.�SOLV�D, that interest at the rate for
• tizat particular assessr,lent shall be added to the cleferred assess-
ment and shall be payable in accordance with the terms and Uro-
visions of i-i. S.11. Section 435 . 195 ; and
B� IT �'U�TIirR PESOLVED, that the riqht of deferr.lent is
automatically terminated under Section 435. 195 if :
1. Tlie ow•ner di�s and the spouse is not
otherwise elic;ible; �
