A RESOLUTION OF INTENT REGARDING PERMITTED
DEVELOPMENT OF STUBBS BAY MARINA PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono has adopted
Ordinance No. 219 establishing a Moratorium on development in the
Stubbs Bay Area of the City; and
WHEREAS, as a part of the study undertaken to accomplish
the purpose of said Moratorium, the City has undertaken a special
study of the past use and proposed development of property known
as Stubbs Bay Marina ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has assembled reports and
researched the Stubbs Bay Marina Property extensively over the past
several years , particularly over the past weeks since the Moratorium
was established, and the City Council has duly considered the recommen-
dations of staff, consultants and the general public as documented in
the record of a Public Hearing called for this purpose on
February 27 , 1979 ;
• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Oro no hereby determines that the subject property is not
suitable for commercial marina use of the magnitude proposed by
George Johnson in his request for 66 slips , and that the City Council
intends to undertake the following action in response to this
determination:
1. Adopt a comprehensive resolution setting forth the
detailed reasons for making this determination.
2. Adopt appropriate amendments to the City' s Comprehensive
Plan. �
3. Institute a rezoning review for the B-2 property to
change the district from B-2 to either a limited marina
use or to some form of residential use.
4. Deny the George Johnson 1979 Commercial Dock License
application for this property.
5. Enforce removal of the existing hazardous docks
attached to this property.
6. Deny non-conforming commercial use of the property.
