While we feel that addition of a 450 square foot seepage bed would improve the current situation, it may not be a long-term solution. Also, a number of site limitations including slowly permeable clay soils and proximity to the creek would preclude city approval of the proposal without further information. It may be neces sary in fact to remove the entire existing drainfield, or to remove trees, or install a mound system. Further information to be submitted should include 2 soil borings and 4 percolation tests in the drainfield area to document soil permeability and depth of water table. Your engineer or soil tester should design a system based on the data obtained. Design plans, documentation of the soils, and a more accurate scale drawing of the lot, home, topographical features, and elevations, should be submitted. The City is committed to making septic systems work on a long term basis. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions. I will be happy to meet with you if you wish. Sincerely, Michael P. Gaffron Septic System Inspector MPG:cr Enc.
