Box 66 Crystal Bay, MN Subject; 55323 Proposed On-Site Sewage Treatment System Lots 6 & 7, Swan Lake Addition Dear Al; We have reviewed the percolation tests and the design of the on-site sewage treatment system for the subject property as prepared by Soil and Materials Engineers. The site in question is suitable for construction of an on-site disposal system and we would therefore recommend the granting of a permit to construct a system. Mr. Overtoon, the design engineer for the project, has proposed 250 linear feet of drain tile in a 36 inch trench based on an average perc. rate indicated that the average rate review of the average perc. rate indicated that the average rate for design of the system should be 50 minutes per inch for the proposed three bedroom house utilizing a 36 inch trench; 310 linear feet of drain tile would therefore be required. Drain tile shall be overfilled with four inches of filter media material placed over the drain tile as oj>posed to the two inches specified by the design engineer." DATE- _ INSPECTION SOIL & MATERIALS ENGINEERS, INC Van Eeckhout Building Corporation 1055 East Wayzata Boulevard Wayzata, Minnesota 55391 Attention: Mr. Jerry Finnamore Soil Percolation Test for Proposed Residence at Lots 6 and 7» Block 2, Swanlake Addition, Orono, Minnesota Gentlemen: We were retained by you to perform soil percolation tests at the above property (see Drawing No. 1 attached). The tests were performed on May 18, 1976. The procedure was in accordance with the methods designated by the Minnesota Department of Health, 1971, and somewhat modified by our engineering Judgment. The attached log sheets indicate the observed percolation rates at each of the test holes (P-1 through P-6). The observed percolation rates at each of the test holes was within the maximum allowable rate of 60 minutes per inch, as recommended by the Minnesota Department of Health. Based on these observa tions, the installation of an individual soil absorption system will be accept able in the areas tested. In addition to the above percolation test holes, one test boring was drilled to a depth of 15.0 feet below the existing ground surface to determine if the water table Is less than that depth. According to the readings listed on the attached log sheets, it is our opinion that the level of the groundwater table was below that depth at the time of the Investigation. Fluctuations in the water level may occur over a wide range, depending upon the amount of precipitation, evaporation and surface runoff which will vary with seasonal changes. Based on the test results, installation of an individual soil absorption disposal system should be acceptable for a recommended design rate of 30 minutes per inch ii the vicinity of P-4 through P-6; or a rate of 60 minutes per inch In the vicinity of P-1 through P-3* The observed water table In the area is at a depth greater than 6 1/2 feet below the existing ground surface, making an absorption system acceptable according to State Code regulations.
