SITE EVALUATION REPOR?
LOTS 1 & 2, BLOCK 2
SWAN LAKE ADDITION
ORONO, MINNESOTA
6-25-80
On June 21, 1980 an area in the southwest corner of lots 1
and 2. Block 2 of Swan Lake Addition was tested for the suitabil-
ity of establishing a drainfield there sometime in the future.
Six percolation holes were tested and 3 soil borings taken in this
area.
Because of the evidence of a high water table in the soil
borings, the area was tested for a possible shallow trench system.
The percolation holes were dug 6 inches in diameter to a 30 inch
depth, while the soil borings were dug 6 inches in diameter to the
4 foot depth and 3 inches in diameter to the remaining depth. All
holes were dug by hand operated bucket type augers.
The sides of the percolation holes were scratched after dig-
ging and 2 inches of small rock was placed in the bottom of each
hole. Water was kept in the holes overnight and then tested the
next morning at 1i hour intervals for 4 hours. The average percol-
ation rate for the 6 holes was 17.0 minutes per inch which would
allow a shallow trench system to be constructed. However, the
trenches should not be constructed deeper than 1 foot to main-
tain a 3 foot seperation from the high water table. Also, an
interceptor drain shadd be installed on the south side to divert
runoff water from entering the drainfield.
Additional design information will be needed once the size
and location of the house are known.
