JIM COX FOR HIS 40 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE
AS A MEMBER OF THE LONG LAKE FIRE DEPARTMENT
� RESOLUTION NO. 5168
W�IEREAS,the City of Orono receives fire and rescue service from three
volunteer Fire Departments; and
WHEREAS,the Long Lake Fire Department serves the largest portion of Orono;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Orono and its citizens rely on the local volunteer Fire
Departments for protection and assistance in°emergency fire and rescue situations; and
WAEREAS,the local Fire Departments are staffed by valunteers who contribute
many hours of their time to ensure they are properly trained,and to respond to emergency
situations; and
WHEREAS, as the amount of time required for both training and emergency
response continues to grow,along with the demands of work and family life,it is
becoming more difficult to recruit and retain volunteer firefighters; and
• WHEREAS, fortunately,there are those unique and special individuals who are
driven to make volunteer firefighting a lifelong vocation; and
WHEREAS,Jim Cox is one of those special persons who has devoted 40 years
of his life to serving the community as a volunteer firefighter; and
WHEREAS,Jim Cox has served in an officer capacity for at least 20 of his 40
years of service on the Long Lake Fire Department.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Orono City Council does
hereby recognize, and express its sincere appreciation to,Jim Cox for his 40 years of
dedicated service to the community as a volunteer firefighter and officer with the Long
Lake Fire Deparhnent.
Adopted by the Orono City Council this l Oth day of May,2004.
