� � I A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING
' SAM AND JOYCE MARFIELD
FOR THEIR GENEROUS DONATION TO THE
. ��' c,~� ; LONG LAKE FIRE DEPARTMENT

i RESOLUTION NO. 5263
�
WHEREAS; the Long Lake Fire Department provides fire service to a
major portion of Orono; and
WHEREAS� the Cities of Long Lake,Medina, and Orono share the costs
of fire service provision; and
WHEREAS, the provision of fire service requires specialized vehicles
and equipment; and I
I WHEREAS; the cost of these specialized vehicles is sometimes beyond
the resources of the Cities; and

• WHEREAS; Sam and Joyce Marfield have very generously donated to
the Long Lake Fire Deparhnent a Dodge Ram pick-up truck and a custom-built
fire/rescue boat; and
�
WHEREAS, their donation has substantially improved the fire and rescue
response capabilities of the Long Lake Fire Department,particularly in relation to
response to incidents on the water; and
WHEREAS, this is of particular benefit to the City of Orono, as Orono
has more lakeshore on Lake Minnetonka than any other City on the lake,

NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono City Council
does hereby recognize, and express its sincere appreciation to Sam and Joyce
Marfield for their generous donation to the Long Lake Fire Department.
Adopted by the City Council of Orono,Minnesota at a regular meeting
held this 13th day of December, 2004.
