HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 587RESOLUTION #587 • Whereas, the City of Orono supports the intent of the open meeting law which is to have the Public business conducted openly so that the public can be informed of the decisions and actions being taken, and Whereas, nevertheless there are certain matters of a confidential nature which may not be in the public interest at a particular time to disclose publicly, an d Whereas, the Attorney General has rendered an opinion which appears to be more restrictive than the legislature intended. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Orono respectfully urge the Minnesota State Legislature to consider changes to the open meeting law which would provide for amendments to the law as proposed in the draft legislation submitted by the League of Minnesota Municipalities, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that cobies of this resolution be transmitted to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Members of the State Legislature and the League of Minnesota Municipalities.
