RESOLUTION DIRECTING STAFF T() APPLY FOR
CAPITAL FEDERAL -AID URBAN PROGRAM FUNDS
FOR BIKEWAYS -WALKWAYS SYSTEM FOR CITY OF ORONO
iH]MEAS, the City of Orono has reviewed the park, recreation
and transportation plans for the City of Orono, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the City of
Orono needs to develop a bikeways -walkways system as soon as possible
to promote the general health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of' -
Orono by providing bikeways and walkways along; the roadways to eliminate
the presently dangerous joint use of the roadways by bicycle riders,
pedestrians and motorized vehicles, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a great demand
for bikeways and walkways along certain roadways to facilitate the use
of the recreational assets within Orono,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the staff shall complete
all steps necessary to apply for funds from the Federal -Aid Urban
Program to construct the necessary bikeways -walkways system as described
in the Official Orono Bikeways -Walkways System Map as adopted by the
City Council of the City of Orono, Ilennepin County, Minnesota at a
regular meeting held February 25, 1975.
