• A RESOLUTION REGARDING NON -RETURNABLE CONTAINERS
WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters of Westonka is
seeking passage of a resolution to discourage the use of non-
returnable beverage containers.
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Orono,
Minnesota supports the concept of the League of Women Voters'
resolution regarding non -returnable containers as follows:
WHEREAS, non -returnable beer and soft drink containers
contribute to the rising cost of waste disposal, and
WHEREAS, such containers are highly consumptive of
energy resources and of steel and aluminum,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of
Orono encourage the Minnesota Legislature to adopt appropriate
legislation to establish a statewide policy regarding non -returnable
beverage containers.
Adopted by the Village Council of the Village of Orono, Minnesota
at a regular meeting held January 28, 1975.
