• <br /> voATo <br /> CITY OF ORONO <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> ��tq 4� ` NO. 7575 <br /> kESH0 <br /> A RESOLUTION DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO COUNTY <br /> FOR CANNABIS SALES BUSINESS <br /> WHEREAS,the city of Orono is authorized by Minn. Stat. 342.13 to adopt reasonable restrictions <br /> • of the sales of cannabis product to the public for use or consumption; and <br /> WHEREAS, the state Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) is responsible for licensing <br /> cannabis and hemp businesses; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orono's key role in the cannabis sales business industry is registration of cannabis <br /> sales business and certification of zoning compliance; and <br /> WHEREAS, cannabis sales businesses subject to registration include micro and mezzo businesses <br /> with retail operations endorsement, retailers, medical retailers, medical combination businesses, <br /> and lower-potency hemp edible retailers; and <br /> WHEREAS, compliance checks of registered cannabis sales businesses are required to be <br /> conducted by the local unit of government(city or county); and <br /> WHEREAS, Hennepin County partnered with cities in development of a Cannabis and Lower- <br /> Potency Hemp Edibles (LPHE) Retailers Ordinance; and <br /> RESOLVED, that Orono delegates authority to Hennepin County for registration of and <br /> conducting compliance checks for cannabis sales businesses. <br /> FURTHER,that Orono retains authority by Minn. Stat. 342.13(f) to certify compliance with local <br /> zoning ordinances, state fire code, and building code for cannabis sales businesses. <br /> FINALLY, that Orono and Hennepin County will exchange the information necessary for <br /> registration and compliance of cannabis sales businesses. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held on April 14, 2025. <br /> ATTEST CITY OF ORONO <br /> LwI <br /> Christiniian, City Clerk Bob Tunheim, Mayor <br />
