HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 434P, RESOLUTION #434 A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT TO FORM A MUNICIPAL INFORMATION SYSTEM WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Orono has determined that there is a need by municipalities in the State of Minnesota for a coordinated approach to meeting municipal'needs for electronic data process- ing; and WHEREAS, it is determined by this Council that the development of a data processing system, as opposed to individual applications of comput- erized data processing, is an objective -of this and other municipalities; and WHEREAS, the cost of developing and maintaining such a system is excessive for any one municipality; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Village of Orono to utilize an integrated data processing system as and when it becomes operationally feasible; and. WHEREAS, Section 471.59, Minnesota Statutes, authorizes joint exercise by two or more public agencies of any power common to them; and M. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Village of Orono to jointly provide for and maintain. a data processing system for mutual advantage and cercern; NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of Orono that it hereby expresses the intent to enter into a joint powers agreement to form a cooperative municipal data processing system; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Village Administrator is hereby appointed the representative of this municipality to'serve on a Joint Powers Drafting Committee. IT IS FURTHER UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED that this is resolution of intent only and does not commit the Village of Orono to any expenditures of money.
