RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ORONO
TO SUBMIT INFORMATION TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
AND TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT FOR FUNDING TO ASSIST THE
CITY IN THE PURCHASE OF THE BIG ISLAND VETERANS CAMP PROPERTY
WHEREAS,under the provisions contained in Minnesota Laws of 2005, Chapter 20,
Article 1, Section 23, Subdivision 3,the 2005 Legislature appropriated$2,000,000 for a one-time
grant to the City of Orono to assist the City in the purchase of the Big Island Veterans Camp
property; and
WHEREAS,to receive this money, the City must submit required information and enter
� into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic
Development.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Orono has the legal authority to apply
for the grant, and the financial, technical, and managerial capacity to ensure proper construction,
operation and maintenance of the project for its design life. �
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVEI)by the City Council of the City of Orono
that the City of Orono is authorized to enter into a grant agreement with the State of Minnesota
for$2,000,000 for the funding of the purchase of the Big Island Veterans Camp property, and
that the City Administrator is authorized to sign the grant agreement.
• I CERTIFY THAT the above resolution was adopted by the Orono City Council
on September 26, 2005. �
