N„,,,, "-is\ / wAk\ f 1 4 6 • • 2024 -Freshwater Scientific Services, LLC Background > Forest Lake is a bay on Lake Minnetonka, located within the Orono city limits. > In mid-summer 2024, some residents experienced a large area of weeds coming on or near shore. > A letter dated July 16, was placed in our mailbox's referencing cut /floating weeds presented as Milfoil which was likely Coontail. > By August 9, a group of residents initiated a petition to form a Lake Improvement District (later referred to as "LID"). > By August 24, the group reported surpassing the 51% signature threshold. > August 26, Eric Evenson, Executive Director of the Lake Minnetonka Association presented to the council that Forest Lake was interested in forming a LID. > The purpose of forming a LID is to create a taxation base to fund bay-wide treatment of invasive weeds.
