RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
NO. 54—.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER
TO COMPLETE A STORM WATER STUDY
OF THE CITY'S INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City has several properties in its industrial district that are considering
expanded development; and
WHEREAS, expanded development requires the management of the increased storm
water drainage resulting from the development; and
WHEREAS, as part of the New Highway 12 Project, Mn/DOT is constructing a series of
storm water facilities to manage storm water from properties along the corridor; and
WHEREAS, one of the facilities being constructed by Mn/DOT, is a storm water pond
• (Kenobi Pond) located east of and adjacent to the southeast corner of the Morrie's Autocare
property; and
WHEREAS, the City of Orono will be responsible for the long term maintenance of
Kenobi Pond; and
WHEREAS, Kenobi Pond is to be sized to accommodate the storm water flows from the
industrial district, as well as from the storm water pond on the north side of Highway 12 which
collects the storm water from the area between Willow Drive and Old Crystal Bay Road; and
WHEREAS, it is important to be clear about the capacity of Kenobi Pond as it relates to
the development potential of the industrial district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Orono
does hereby authorize the City Engineer to complete a storm water study of the industrial district.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota, at a regular meeting held
June 26, 2006.
