RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
NO. 54 7 3
A RESOLUTION FOR ESTABLISHING NEW PRECINCT BOUNDARY LINES
FOR PRECINCTS 1 AND 4 IN THE CITY OF ORONO
WHEREAS, precinct boundary changes may be the cause of changes to legislative or
congressional district boundaries, ward boundaries, or as a result of the city's own initiative; and
WHEREAS, after a formal review of existing precinct boundaries and polling place
locations, it was determined that it would be preferable to include the polling place location for
Precinct 1 within the Precinct 1 boundaries; and
WHEREAS, after consideration of potential areas for growth that would increase the
number of voters per precinct, it was determined that Precinct 4 would most likely have the
greatest population growth, with an estimate of 400 - 600 additional voters; and
• WHEREAS, as a result of redrawing the precinct lines for Precinct 1, approximately
200 voters would be moved from Precinct 4 to Precinct 1, which will increase the number of
voters at Precinct 1 and decrease the number of voters at Precinct 4 allowing for an increase of
future voters; and
WHEREAS, no county commissioner, legislative or congressional district borders are
impacted by the proposed boundary changes; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the City's own initiative, the precinct boundary lines will be
changed and redrawn as follows:
see attached Exhibit A.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of
Orono does hereby establish new precinct boundary lines for Precincts 1 and 4 per the map
attached as Exhibit A.
Adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held the 22nd day of May, 2006.
