RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
NO. 5467
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF
HOPE CHEST FOR BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION
FOR A ONE DAY MINNESOTA LAWFUL GAMBLING EXEMPT PERMIT
WHEREAS, the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation has applied to the
State of Minnesota Gambling Control Board for a Minnesota Lawful Gambling Exempt Permit
to conduct lawful gambling activities; and
WHEREAS, an exempt raffle may be conducted by this organization if the total
market (retail) value of all raffle prizes awarded in a calendar year does not exceed $50,000 and
the gambling activities occur on five or fewer days; and
WHEREAS, the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation proposes to conduct a
one day gambling activity (raffle) as part of the Minnesota Monthly "Women of Achievement
Giving Women Hope" reception to be held at 3850 Shoreline Drive on May 17, 2006; and
WHEREAS, the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation is required to obtain
approval of the gambling activity from the city in which the activity will occur.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Orono City Council does
hereby approve the application for a Minnesota Lawful Gambling Exempt Raffle for the Hope
Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation to conduct a one day gambling activity (raffle) at 3850
Shoreline Drive on May 17, 2006.
