HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-03-2025 CC Agenda PacketDate: February 3, 2025 Item: 1 Presenter: Laura Oakden, Community Development Director Section: Work Session Item Title: Planning Commission Applicant Interviews 1.Purpose: Conduct Planning Commission applicant interviews. 2.Background: The Planning Commission is made up of seven regular members who serve staggered 3-year terms. City Code Section 74-2 prescribes membership to include individuals from all areas of the city including lakeshore, rural (2+ acre lots), and urban areas (<2 acre lots) in order to provide diverse perspectives. A commissioner can serve up to three 3-year terms. The current Commissioners: Commissioner Current Term End Status City District Scott Kirchner 3/31/2026 Active, 2nd term Rural Christopher Bollis, Chair 3/31/2025 Request Re- Appointment for 3rd term (2028) Rural, Lake Jon Ressler 3/31/2027 Active, 3rd term Urban, Lake Mark McCutcheon 3/31/2025 Resign 3/31/2025- Move to Alternate Rural Bob Erikson 3/31/2027 Resign 2/19/2025 Urban, Lake Gary Kraemer 3/31/2026 Resign Urban, Lake Dennis Libby 3/31/2027 Resign 10/20/2024 Rural Ted Schulze Alternate Active, Annual Rural 3.Summary: We have received 5 application for the Planning Commission. With the recent resignations and term expirations, there will be 4 openings for planning commissioners. The Council may also appoint individuals as Alternate Commissioners. Following the interviews, the Council should provide direction for 4 Commissioners and 1 alternate Commissioner. Staff will allocate the applicants to the appropriate positions to ensure staggered term limits for the Commission. If the applicants are unable to interviewed at this time, the council can continue interviews until the Commission is fully seated. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Council should interview the applicants and direct staff to bring a resolution to the February 10th Council meeting with a list of commissioner appointments.
