A RESOLUTION APPROVING A
POST-EMPLOYMENT HEALTH CARE SAVINGS PLAN
FOR THE POLICE SERGEANT BARGAINING UNIT,AND AMENDING THE POLICE
SERGEANT LABOR AGREEMENT TO REFLECT THE CHANGE
WHEREAS, IRS rules allow cities to create Post-Employment Health Care Savings
Plans (HCSPs) for their employees; and
WHEREAS, an HCSP provides substantial tax savings in relation to the payment of
health care costs; and
WHEREAS, the City's Police Sergeant bargaining unit has agreed on the design of an
HCSP.
� NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orono,
Minnesota:
1. That the following Post-Employment Health Care Savings Plan be adopted:
Emnloyee Payroll Contribution .
All employees in the Police Sergeant bargaining unit will contribute 2% of pay
into the post-employment health care savings plan.
Severance Contribution
All employees in the Police Sergeant bargaining unit will contribute 100% of
severance pay into the post-employment health care savings plan.
2. That the Police Sergeant labor agreement be amended to reflect the addition of
this plan.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held
this 1 lth day of December, 2006.
