RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL

A RESOLUTION APPROVING A
POST-EMPLOYMENT HEALTH CARE SAVINGS PLAN
FOR THE POLICE OFFICER BARGAINING UNIT,AND AMENDING THE POLICE '
OFFICER LABOR AGREEMENT TO REFLECT THE CHANGE
WHEREAS, IRS rules allow cities to create Post-Employment Health Care Savings
Plans (HCSPs) for their employees; and
WHEREAS, an HCSP provides substantial tax savings in relation to the payment of
health care costs; and
WHEREAS, the City's Police Officer bargaining unit has agreed on the design of an
HCSP.
• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orono,
Minnesota:
1. That the following Post-Employment Health Care Savings Plan be adopted:
Emnlovee Pavroll Contribution
All employees in the Police Officer bargaining unit will contribute 1% of pay into ,
the post-employment health care savings plan.
Severance Contribution
All employees in the Police Officer bargaining unit will contribute 100% of
sevzrance pay into tr�e�ost-em�loymcnt health care savings plan.
2. That the Police Sergeant labor agreement be amended to reflect the addition of �
� this plan.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held
this l lth day of December, 2006.
