A RESOLUTION TO NOTIFY THE WEST HENNEPIN ASSESSMENT
DISTRICT THE INTENT TO WITHDRAW FROM THE DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City of Orono has contracted under a Joint
Powers Agreement with the West Hennepin Assessment District for
assessing services since 1971 , and
WHEREAS, the original intent of the Joint Powers Agreement
was to form a district which could accommodate the Westonka area by
soliciting other cities to join, and
WHEREAS, during the past four years, the cost of participating
in the West Hennepin Assessment District has risen to a point where
it appears that the assessing functions can be more economically
accomplished by the City of Orono, and
WHEREAS, the City of Spring Park has adopted Resolution
#80-18 notifying the West Hennepin Assessment District of its intent
to withdraw from the West Hennepin Assessment District as of January 1,
1981, and
WHEREAS, it is not in the District ' s nor the City of Orono ' s
interest to continue the function of the District or the participation
r " of the City of Orono in the District after December 31, 1980 , and
WHEREAS, it appears that it would be in the best interest of
the Joint Powers to initiate dissolution of the Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORONO that the Secretary of the West Hennepin Assessment District
be hereby notified that the City of Orono intends to withdraw from the
District on December 31, 1980 and that the Board be dissolved.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota at a regular
meeting held August 11 , 1980 .
